Android app
2D Code Scanner is built for Zebra devices with DataWedge. It pairs over local Wi‑Fi with the desktop companion. There are no accounts, ads, analytics SDKs, or cloud backends.
Stored only on the device (SharedPreferences; Android backup is disabled):
- Companion pairing data (name, LAN address, port, token, MAC)
- Last barcode and symbology
- Validation and counting sessions
- Settings (suffix, vibrate, keep screen on)
Barcodes and session data are sent only to the companion PC you pair, over a local-network WebSocket (ws://) protected with AES-256-GCM. We do not receive that traffic, and it is not shared with third parties.
The app runs a data-sync foreground service (with a persistent notification) so the Wi‑Fi link can stay alive, and may ask for notification permission on Android 13+.
Legal bases: performance of a contract / pre-contractual steps (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our legitimate interest in operating the local scan link (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can lodge a complaint with the Austrian Data Protection Authority (Datenschutzbehörde).
